Sport Injuries and Performing Arts Clinic

NEW! Starts on the 25th September

Our Sports Injury and Performing Arts Clinic supports the active patient including those participating in professional sports and those involved in the performing arts such as dancers, musicians and singers.

Both amateur and professional sports demand intense training periods and overuse injuries are very common. Performing artists are the same way exposed to a high risk to injuries and overstrains due to a high volume of training, rehearsals and performances.

The appointments at the Sports and Performing Arts Clinic are delivered by senior students at the UCO School under supervision of an experienced Osteopath specialised in sports and performing arts medicine. If necessary, we will consider and discuss with our patients’ onward referrals to other healthcare specialists, such as GPs, orthopaedic consultants.

We are taking an extensive case history, focusing on your complaint and training or performance goal. We are providing hands-on osteopathy treatment and might provide a rehabilitation plan with exercises and stretches.

Karolin Krell, one of our practice educators, will be running the Sports & Performing Arts Clinic at UCO.

Karolin trained as an osteopath at the former British School of Osteopathy (BSO). In addition, Karolin is a qualified Physiotherapist and further specialised by obtaining a postgraduate Masters in Performing Arts Medicine from the University College London (UCL). This unique combination of skills allows her to address the specific needs of performing artists, including dancers, musicians and actors.
Karolin is part of the physical support teams at London Contemporary Dance School and London Studio Centre, catering to the needs of dancers. Karolin gained a wide insight working with circus artists but also the movie industry.

Karolin has extensive experience working with athletes, she was a valuable member of the medical and health care teams for the German National Rowing, Triathlon and Skeleton Teams where she supported all major national and international championships and training intensives.
