Acupuncture treatment in London
We are excited to announce that from October 2024 it will be possible to see an acupuncturist at our London clinic. The bookings can be made with either Alex or the Student acupuncture clinic by getting in touch with them directly, details below.
What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture has been practised in the East for centuries to promote, maintain and restore good health and over the millennia has treated every kind of disease. This holistic form of medicine is now popular in the West as an effective treatment for many conditions and can be used effectively alongside conventional medicine and the medical profession is increasingly recognising the benefits of acupuncture and the current research evidence. The National Guidelines for Clinical and Healthcare Excellence (NICE) now recommend acupuncture as a treatment for chronic pain conditions.

Wednesday Associate Clinic with Alex Murray
Running every Wednesday, this clinic is delivered by Alex, a fully qualified and experienced acupuncturist, herbalist and practitioner of Chinese medicine. Alex graduated from the University of Westminster with a BSc (Hons) degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine: Acupuncture in 2001 and followed this with a post-graduate Diploma in Chinese Herbal Medicine in 2003.
For over two decades Alex has worked in the NHS as part of a small, dedicated team of acupuncturists committed to the provision of integrated healthcare within a community multibed setting in South London. This busy and award-winning clinic receives referrals from GPs, consultants and physios for a broad range of pain-related conditions and regularly conducts research into using acupuncture as a therapeutic modality.
Alex adopts an entirely holistic and patient-centred approach, often integrating acupuncture treatment with additional interventions such as herbal medicine, bodywork, dietary advice and therapeutic movement. By incorporating the dynamic, versatile framework of Chinese medicine and employing the many therapeutic strategies within its venerable toolkit, Alex aims to achieve optimal, tailored results according to the individual needs of his patients, thus allowing healing to take place and the restoration of physical and psychological wellbeing.

Thursday Associate Clinic
Northern College of Acupuncture (NCA) students are completing their acupuncture practitioner training, studying for a BSc in Acupuncture. It takes three years of training to qualify as an acupuncturist. Alongside their study of acupuncture and Chinese medicine, students also study Western medicine. At the NCA teaching clinic, treatments are led by a third-year senior student and assisted by students from the first and second year. Your treatment is always supervised by a member of NCA clinical staff to ensure that the highest standards of treatment and care are maintained. The UCO School of osteopathy hosts this clinic, and the Health Sciences University validate the course.
When is the clinic open?
The clinic is open on Thursdays only. The earliest appointment is at 9am. The last appointment is at 3.30pm for a follow-up client, or 2pm for a new client.
How much does treatment cost?
The first consultation is £45 and subsequent consultations are £30. There is a concessionary rate – please ask on enquiry to see if you can access this. There are many other clinics held within this building so please let the receptionist know you are there for Acupuncture.
