
Alessio Gessa qualified as an osteopath from the University College of Osteopathy (formerly BSO) with distinction after qualifying as a physiotherapist from the University of Genoa (Italy).
He has been working in the private sector, treating people from a variety of backgrounds and walks of life. He really values using a person-centred approach, using touch as a means to establish a rapport with the patient and to facilitate the inherent self-healing mechanism that the human body possesses. When not teaching at the UCO clinic, Alessio works in a multidisciplinary clinic alongside Chiropractors, Physiotherapists, Podiatrists, Acupuncturists and Pilates instructors. He mixes different approaches to injuries, including structural and cranial treatment, as well as tailored exercise prescription.
Prior to commencing his studies in the healthcare sector, Alessio used to be an international level junior cyclist; he also subsequently competed in triathlon at a national level. His background led him to develop a keen interest in sports injuries and he now enjoys treating a variety of presentations.
